Create one written requirement

Send each provider the same description of the outcome, location, dimensions, quantity, deadline, and quality expectation. Ask them to identify assumptions rather than filling gaps silently.

Separate included work and exclusions

A cheaper quote may exclude materials, delivery, setup, revisions, taxes, removal of old work, or post-completion support. Rewrite every quote into a common checklist.

Compare payment structure

Review the deposit, milestone payments, final payment trigger, refund conditions, and accepted payment method. Avoid paying the entire amount before meaningful delivery unless the purchase is low-risk and protected.

Check timeline and dependencies

Ask when work can start, how long it should take, what can delay it, and what the provider needs from you. A fast estimate is not valuable if it ignores approvals or material availability.

Evaluate evidence, not promises

Look at comparable completed work, references you can verify, written warranties, registrations where relevant, and how clearly the provider answers detailed questions.
