Write down the job you need done
Describe the outcome in one sentence. Then separate essential requirements from features that would merely be convenient. A long feature list makes expensive plans look necessary even when they are not.
Compare the complete price
Check setup fees, taxes, usage limits, per-user charges, transaction fees, storage, support tiers, and renewal pricing. Convert every option to the same monthly or yearly period.
Look for the limits behind the promise
Words such as unlimited, free, and included often have fair-use conditions. Read the plan notes for caps on projects, exports, API calls, users, support, or data retention.
Test support before committing
Search the help centre for a real problem you expect to face. Check whether support is email-only, limited to business hours, or reserved for higher plans. If a trial exists, ask one genuine pre-sales question.
Understand cancellation and data export
Confirm how to cancel, whether refunds are available, what happens to stored data, and whether you can export it in a usable format. Take a screenshot of the plan and cancellation terms when you subscribe.
Use a small decision table
- Essential requirements met
- First-year total cost
- Renewal cost
- Cancellation effort
- Data export available
- Support channel and response expectation
- Main risk or unknown
